Occupational Therapy Workshops

The center at Miodowa 9 street helps people being over through mental diseases. It cooperates with all psychiatrical centers in Cracow and with Houses for Social Help.The value of the rehabilitation program of the Workshops with 53 patients  with diagnosed schizophrenia participating in it is the fact that it is integrated with a wider system of care which comprises together with work the treatment and psychotherapy. The further development of the rehabilitation offer is linked above all to implementation mentioned above new projects of "protected work".

The activities are held in five theme-oriented workshops:
occupational, tailor's, carpenter's, bureau and kitchen.

 
 
 

The work in carpenter's workshop concentrates mainly on designing and accomplishing wares out of wood and cork meant for everyday use and for special occasions. The participants frame paintings, do some small consenrvation and bookbinding services.

 
 
 

 
 
 

In tailors's workshop, that teaches designing and sewing, one can acquire the foundations of this craft making, elements of clothing,
toys, decorative and useful.

 
 
 

 
 
 

In bureau workshop one can learn elementary typewriting and computer work. In this workshop they work  up different also academic, texts, invitations for varnishing-days, and catalogues. They do also translations into German, English and French.

 

The occupational workshop offers very rich program for its participants, from hand-weaved textiles, embroidery, through small utensils, up to argil, ceramics, basket-making, salt-dough, Christmas ornaments and other forms of simple creation.

 

Activities in art therapy take place in art therapy workshop. There originate pictures in all painting's techniques, touching different problems of creation: landscape, still life, figure and portrait. It is important here to learn the way of artistic thinking, self-creation and discovering the mystery of creation.

 
 
 

 
 

We have our own gallery called ,,Miodowa Gallery", where we expose works of persons connected with our art therapy workshop, and also national and foreign.

 
 
 
 
 
 

 
The kitchen prepares every day a meal for participants. There are also made some work in household.
