For over twenty years three generations of Krakow's
psychiatrists,
inspired with the thought of Professor Antoni Kepinski, have build in
Krakow
a system of ,,open psychiatry",
available with no limitation to
every person ,
who had undergonea mental crisis.
The aim of the program of therapy is to give
help and support both to patients
and to their families over many years of struggle with the illness.
Today we know, that this help can be effective only
if it beside along with therapy
(psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy) consists of organizing a lodging;
occupation,
job and leisure time, and also helping the concerned persons themselves
to unite
in non-government organizations according to an idea of ..helping the
self-help".
The rise of such a system is the result of concerted
collaboration of many institutions in our city.
The system guarantees a high
standard of therapy within a time of changing economic climate.
